Paul, the man who said:
Gal. 2:20 - "I am crucified with Christ ....."
Phil. 1:21 - "For to me to live is Christ .."
And
Phil. 2:7 - "Christ made himself of no reputation ..."
Is saying, in effect, "As I go to these people I must have no confidence in the flesh." - Phil. 3:3.
"I must not depend on the wisdom of words lest I violate the principle of the cross’ - I Cor. 1:17 .
For, Christ is my wisdom 1:30.
I must let His mind be in me - Phil. 2:5, and I must bring every thought into obedience to Christ - II Cor. 10:5.
I must put Christ on as if He were a garment to be worn before them - Rom. 13:14,
And make no provision for the flesh.
I must remember that I, Paul, am dead and my life is hid with Christ in God - Col. 3:3..
Certainly, in doing these things, I will be walking in the Spirit - Gal. 5:16 & 25 .
I not only am determined to preach Christ crucified - I Cor. 1:23,
But,
I am determined by my actions, as well, not to know anything among them but Jesus Christ and Him crucified - 3:3, – For then, and then only am I embracing the cross and bearing Christ’s death in my body in order that His life may be manifest - II Cor. 4:10.
Thus it was that in presence he was abased - II Cor:10:1 , appearing weak and sounding contemptible - v. 10 .
but his preaching was in "demonstration of the Spirit and of power" - v. 4.
